A better active RFID solution
Most active RFID products available in the market today are built for the sole purpose of identification of an asset, and adopters are forced to choose from a bewildering array of incompatible radio types and competing frequencies. SenzaNET is superior to traditional active RFID solutions in that it combines identification and sensing capabilities and that it operates in a globally harmonized frequency band. Besides pure identification, SenzaNET devices can monitor and collect pertinent sensor data, as is commonly required for hazardous materials or perishable goods during transport.
For example, cold chain temperature monitoring can be employed to achieve traceability, waste reduction, and fulfillment of regulatory or insurance underwriter requirements. And in contrast to active RFID, SenzaNET can optionally enhance the main tracking device with additional external sensors via multi-hop mesh routing. Similarly, multiple railcars can each be equipped with individual sensor nodes, yet seamlessly mesh internetworked and thus capable of sharing the same backhaul connection.
Smart infrastructure
In congested urban environments, both the utilization of assets such as parking space and the fragility of ageing infrastructure present formidable challenges. Wireless sensor networks can detect free parking capacity and congestion, and thereby contribute to more efficient traffic flows through real-time transmission of occupancy information, balancing of parking supply and demand, and reduced carbon dioxide emissions. Additionally, they offer intriguing possibilities in structural health and security monitoring of critical infrastructure such as tunnels and bridges. SenzaNET has been designed to allow large numbers of sensors to exchange data with deterministic latency, thus enabling comprehensive monitoring of structural integrity and instant notification of risks.
